Noortje Meijerink, Netherlands
My ceramic life started in 1980 when I enrolled in a ceramic class at the Free Academy in Oss (The Netherlands) where I was fortunate enough to study with Koos Boermans. Since then my fascination with all sorts of clay has evolved from a hobby into a professional career. My fascination with all sorts of clay – earthenware, stoneware, porcelain, and metal clay – extends to many techniques for shape and color. In addition to my own studio work, I enjoy sharing my enthusiastm with students of my own.
After getting acquainted with PMC (in 2003 I was certified in the US) I picked up the challenge to combine metal clay and ceramics. It was big fun experimenting with metal clay and many different pottery techniques. In many of my pots, my birds are flying on silver wings.
My work has been included in several publications, including PMC Technic and PMC Decade and has been included in exhibitions in Europe and the United States. In 2006 I received the "Keramiekprijs Noord Nederland" award.
